The Terry Fox Charity Run 2022!
In October this year, Maple Bear Asiawide kicked off our Terry Fox Charity Run 2022 to raise funds for the Singapore Children’s Cancer Foundation. Our children and their families came out to show their support and together we raised $161,321 to help make a positive difference!
At Maple Bear Asiawide, we are continuously inspired by Canadian hero, Terry Fox, who set out to achieve the impossible by running a 143-day marathon across Canada after losing his leg to cancer.
“Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going.” – Terry Fox
As part of the Terry Fox movement to raise funds for cancer research, we held Amazing Races across our schools and our grand event at The Arena, Shelton College. Our kids raced, jumped, and sprinted through obstacle courses with great enthusiasm in the aim of sparking hope for families affected by cancer.
Our multi-day events were jam-packed full of fun with storybook characters like The Gingerbread Man, The Runaway Bunny, and The Tortoise and The Hare joining in the races. Maple Bear’s mascot Chinook also showed up with songs and dances to cheer our kids on as they dashed towards the finish line.
We were honoured to have Miss Tam Sing-En, Counsellor, Political and Public Affairs, and Ms Mariana Ramalho, Public and Cultural Affairs Officer, from the Canadian High Commission attend the Terry Fox Run ceremony.
Maple Bear’s goal is to motivate a whole generation of students on to the joy of giving back to the community. Thanks to all our participants for helping us far surpass our fundraising goal and carrying on Terry Fox’s important legacy!
