The Gift of Motherhood
As mothers, we do so much for our families and our children. We often put so much expectation on our families to appreciate us in the ways we’d like. But what if we had a new perspective this Mother’s Day? What if motherhood in itself is the gift and Mother’s Day the perfect time to count the little blessings?
This year, Maple Bear Singapore wanted to empower Maple Bear mothers to be the light – for themselves, and for all mothers out there. We hoped that mothers everywhere would see the stories being shared across social media in the days leading up to mother’s day, and be reminded that motherhood, in itself, is truly the gift.
We began our campaign with stories from Maple Bear mums, Melissa, Sherlyn and Jerilyn as they shared their thoughts on the precious gift of motherhood.
As mother’s day approached, we were pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming number of mothers who came forward to be a source of encouragement to mothers near and far, sharing their most personal stories at #MothersDaywithMapleBear.
It was particularly heart-warming to hear from so many mothers how much joy they derived from taking the time to reflect on the gift of Motherhood. “I had a lot of joy creating the post with wonderful pictures of my daughter and sharing my memory and story of what it means to be a mother,” said Patsy Lim. Other Maple Bear mothers like Xu Si Hui and Cindy Sim shared how thankful they were for the opportunity to reminisce the precious moments of their little ones growing up. In fact, across the many stories we received, one of the most commonly shared sentiments we found was the realisation of how children are little only once, and, despite the tougher times, they wanted to remember and enjoy every single moment that was ever so fleeting.
Out of all the wonderful submissions, here are the ten mums who won over our hearts with their stories. We believe that many mums out there can relate to what they’ve shared, and we hope these stories can serve as a bright reminder to all that you are never alone in this journey of motherhood.
